Fundación MAGA promotes youth talent in Sierra Leone through the Casa Leone Hospitality Project

Casa Leone Hospitality Project
At Fundación MAGA, we are always happy to receive updates about the positive impact of our projects on the ground. This time, the news comes from Bureh (Sierra Leone), where the Casa Leone Hospitality Project continues to move forward, creating real opportunities for young people in the community.
On April 13, 2026, in Bureh Town, the students of the program took part in a practical assessment to showcase everything they have learned during their training. These kinds of activities are essential, as they allow them to practice in a real setting and better prepare for the job market.
During the day, participants demonstrated their skills in two main areas: cooking and mixology. In the kitchen, they prepared dishes such as baked lobster with fried rice, prawn kebabs with chips and onion sauce, and sautéed shrimp with white rice. Beyond the taste, what stood out was the care in presentation and the confidence they showed while working.
In the mixology session, they combined technique and creativity, preparing both classic drinks like “Rum and Coke” and “Gin and Tonic,” as well as their own creations, including “Mama Salone” and “Ladies Love Cocktail,” which drew special attention for their originality.
The jury, led by project coordinator Isatu Sidibay, highly valued the effort, commitment, and progress shown by the young participants. These assessments not only help measure what they have learned but also strengthen their confidence and motivation.
At Fundación MAGA, we want to highlight the importance of projects like Casa Leone. It’s not just about training—it’s about giving young people the chance to learn a profession and find their way into the job market. In places where employment opportunities are limited, having practical skills can make a real difference in someone’s future.
We remain committed to training as a way to create opportunities and promote independence. Because when support and education are provided, talent emerges. And these young people are proving that, with the right opportunity, they can go far.
