At Muriel Wines, we have acquired the Marqués de la Concordia brand and the full set of associated trademark registrations, as part of the public auction held during the liquidation process of its previous owner group.
This acquisition marks another step forward in the growth and diversification strategy we have been pursuing in recent years and opens a new chapter for a brand with a strong heritage and significant recognition.
A brand with history and potential
With the addition of Marqués de la Concordia, we are bringing into our portfolio a well-established brand with national and international recognition and a presence across different markets.
The brand will retain its own identity. From now on, we will focus on gaining an in-depth understanding of the asset and assessing its main development opportunities, from its positioning and portfolio to priority markets and channels.
Our aim is to build on the heritage of Marqués de la Concordia and develop its full potential from a long-term perspective.
Two stories connected by wine
The Marqués de la Concordia name originates from the title granted in 1812 by King Ferdinand VII to José Fernando de Abascal, Viceroy of Peru.
Its history also has an interesting parallel with Conde de los Andes, one of our brands. Both titles were granted by Ferdinand VII to former Viceroys of Peru and later gave their names to brands associated with the world of wine.
These are two stories connected by their origins and significance, while each retains its own identity and personality within our portfolio.
The concept of Concordia itself, associated with understanding, unity and harmony, also provides a distinctive meaning on which to build this new chapter.
Continuing to grow
Today, we have 8 wineries and 11 brands, and our wines are sold in more than 50 countries. Our international outlook is reflected in exports accounting for approximately 80% of our business.
We work with 400 hectares of our own vineyards and manage more than 700 hectares of controlled vineyards, giving us a structure that enables us to strengthen control over the origin and quality of our wines.
Against this backdrop of growth, Muriel Wines, S.L.U., our commercial company, closed the 2026 financial year with cumulative revenue growth of 9.75% over the period from 31 July 2024 to 31 July 2026.
Our strategy is based on progressive growth and diversification, with the aim of continuing to build a solid structure capable of driving new projects.
Looking ahead
This acquisition comes at a time of transformation for the wine sector, shaped by evolving consumer habits, pressure on costs and margins, and changes across markets.
In this context, we believe that scale, diversification and the ability to adapt are becoming increasingly important.
For us, growth also means getting closer to consumers and understanding what they are looking for in wine. The addition of Marqués de la Concordia reflects this vision and reinforces our commitment to continuing to evolve and diversify our offering.
As Javier Murúa, CEO of Muriel Wines, explains:
“The addition of Marqués de la Concordia represents another step forward in the steady growth Muriel Wines has been pursuing in recent years. We are bringing into our portfolio a brand with a strong track record and significant recognition, backed by the strength of a group that today has a consolidated structure, a diversified portfolio and the capacity to continue growing.”
With Marqués de la Concordia, a new chapter begins within Muriel Wines. We approach this new project with the aim of respecting the brand’s identity, building on its history and working to develop its full potential for the future.
